King salmon, coho, rainbow trout, and a trophy brown trout highlighted another action-packed week. Book now while openings remain! fishing report coverpicture

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 6th Jul, 2026 - 1

Friday morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming John and his granddaughter Savanah aboard Fishin Da Net. They were kept busy reeling in 7 king salmon, 1 coho salmon, and 1 big brown trout to Da Net. The brown trout was a sight to behold. That was the first brown trout we caught since the first half of May. Savanah caught the big brown trout along with the biggest king salmon. John informed me after the trip his granddaughter was very pleased to have caught the biggest fish of the trip. We learned that Savanah is one of the top shooters in the state at sporting clays, trap, and various other sport shoots. Good luck on all your shooting events this summer, Savanah! Friday afternoon, Andy and crew hopped on Fishin Da Net to celebrate young Jackson's 9th birthday! The family had a blast bringing 3 king salmon, 3 rainbow trout, and 2 coho salmon to Da Net to meet their demise. Younger daughter Aspen even got a nice nap in toward the end of the trip. Perhaps the calmness of the lake or the myriad dad jokes told put her to sleep. We all had a great time and the weather cooperated nicely with the fog lifting the last half of the trip. Happy birthday, Jackson! Thank you, John and Andy, for booking your charter fishing trip with us. We hope to have you on board again! Fishing is quite good right now. If you'd like to book a trip, give me a holler! I have a few openings during Salmon A Rama which runs July 11-19. We are a preferred charter for Salmon A Rama which means you do not need to purchase a ticket if you fish with us to be eligible to win cash and other prizes. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 14th Jul, 2026 - 2

Last week, we had several rather successful trips and a couple trips where we struggled to find active fish. The surface water has warmed up dramatically in the past week or so with all the north winds we've had. Unfortunately, one of my engines blew during the charter trip on Saturday so I will be hauling out the boat this week to replace the engine. I have been working with another captain to run as many of the upcoming trips we can on his boat until the new engine is installed. Thanks to Thomas (July 6 & 7), Curt (July 😎, Joni (July 9), John (July 10), and Daniel (July 11) for fishing with us this past week. We had really good weather overall with good fishing each day starting July 8th. July 6-7 were tough bites for us. At this point, I am not taking bookings for the remainder of July until I can get the engine replaced. I will continue to take bookings for August and September since we should have the boat back in action by then. Thanks for your understading! Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137

September Adventures With Joanie and Crew fishing report coverpicture

October 3, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 3rd Oct, 2025 - 1

Tuesday morning, we had the privilege to welcome Joanie and crew Toni, Amy, and Gina to hop aboard Fishin Da Net for a mid September fishing adventure. They had a blast catching four mature king salmon staging before moving in the harbor to attempt to spawn. We also caught a two year old king salmon and coho salmon after moving out to deeper water. The crew had a few hours Wednesday morning before needing to drive back home to Missouri so they decided to book a brief charter trip Wednesday as well. They wanted to chase smaller fish for the grill, so we setup outside of the staging king salmon. Fishing was slow, but we managed to catch one nice king salmon and one coho salmon before heading back to the dock. Thanks, Joanie, for booking the trip! We enjoyed having ya'll on board and hope to see you again next year. I do have some openings the remainder of this season which will wrap up mid October. Give me a holler to book your trip! I am also taking reservations for trips for 2026. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com

Family Fishing Success Aboard Fishin Da Net fishing report coverpicture

October 3, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 3rd Oct, 2025 - 2

This morning, Laura and her family booked a charter on Fishin Da Net. This was one of those days where things just worked well. Doesn't always go that way, but today was a great day. First, the company on board was excellent. Second, the rain held off. Finally, the fish cooperated! We brought 11 king salmon, 1 coho salmon, and 1 brown trout to Da Net to meet their demise. The king salmon put up great fights. All but one of them were mature fish coming in to spawn. What a blast the boys had bringing in the fish. They did great! Thanks, Laura, for booking the trip! Hope to have ya'll on board again in the coming years. If you want to get out before the end of the season, give me a shout. I have some openings sprinkled about through the end of the season mid October. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com

Birthday Celebration on Lake Michigan Waters fishing report coverpicture

October 3, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 3rd Oct, 2025 - 3

This morning, Norman treated his son to a charter for his birthday bringing his other son, father, and father in-law to round out the crew. The birthday boy really wanted to catch some king salmon so we ventured out targeting kings staging in shallower water. The crew brought 3 king salmon to Da Net to meet their demise along with one nice chunky brown trout. A few other fish were lucky to escape the grasp of our hooks to swim another day. This season is quickly winding down. The weather was great this morning and the forecast looks good for the next week or so. I have some openings if you want to get out for a late season adventure! Lake Michigan Action: Non-Stop Bites on Port Washington Charter fishing report coverpicture

August 17, 2025

Reel in the Excitement: Port Washington's Lake Michigan Bonanza!

Non-stop bites all day long! That's how I'd sum up our summer fishing adventure on Lake Michigan with Jeffrey. We set out from Port Washington Marina in the early morning, ready to tackle some serious fishing action. The day started with a bit of rain, but it cleared up to partly cloudy skies, giving us perfect conditions for our 5-hour charter with Fishin Da Net Charter Fishing. With our gear rigged and ready, we hit the water, eager to try our luck with a variety of techniques. We started off trolling, covering a good stretch of water to locate the most active spots. As we moved along, we switched things up with some jigging, which can be really effective for enticing those deeper-dwelling fish. We also gave live bait fishing a shot, always a solid choice when you're after a mix of species in Lake Michigan. Throughout the day, we worked different areas of the lake, adjusting our approach based on what we were seeing. While we didn't land any trophies this time around, the constant action kept us engaged and having a blast. Every cast was an opportunity, and we made the most of our time on the water. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, appreciating the experience of being out on beautiful Lake Michigan. If you're thinking about planning your own fishing adventure in Port Washington, WI, I'd highly recommend giving us a call at Fishin Da Net Charter Fishing. Michael’s First Lake Michigan Salmon Slam fishing report coverpicture

June 18, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 18th Jun, 2025 - 2

Michael, while visiting family from Virginia, booked a charter trip yesterday morning on Fishin Da Net to experience fishing on Lake Michigan for the first time. He was the sole customer on board so he battled all the fish himself including a nice king salmon on a line with 300 feet of copper attached. We brought his limit of 3 king salmon and 2 coho salmon to Da Net despite tired hands from all the reeling. Good problem to have! Anyhow, he enjoyed his first trip on Lake Michigan. Thanks for booking the trip, Michael and safe travels back home to Virginia. How about you? Book your charter trip today! Call, text, or book directly on my website anytime. I have openings this week on Monday afternoon, Tuesday AM or PM, Wednesday and Thursday AM only, and then again beginning Monday, June 30. Capt. Dave Protzmann (920) 254-3137 www.fishindanet.com

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 18th Jun, 2025 - 3

Fishin Da Net "set sail" yesterday late afternoon for a charter fishing trip with new to Fishin Da Net customer crew Tanya, Connor, and Austin. They had a great time sharing a few stories and bringing fish to Da Net. We landed and kept 12 coho salmon, 1 king salmon, and 1 rainbow trout to take home with them. We released a small coho salmon to grow for hopefully someone to have a crack at it later. Fishing remains very good in Port Washington. Give me a shout if you want to book a trip. Capt. Coho & Rainbow Trout Action with Norman’s Crew fishing report coverpicture

June 18, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 18th Jun, 2025 - 4

Yesterday morning, Norman and crew (his son, father, and father in-law) hopped aboard Fishin Da Net for a charter fishing experience. They had a great time while landing 11 coho salmon and 6 rainbow trout. Thanks Norman for booking the charter and for lending a hand setting lines and netting a few fish. Something I prefer to do is getting charter customers involved as much as they want especially when running without a first mate like yesterday's trip. The experience is often more rewarding when you are directly involved with the action prior to getting the bite. If you would rather sit back and relax while letting the captain and first mate handle all that stuff, that is perfectly suitable too. Whatever you prefer on your trip! I have plenty of openings this month before June 20th. Give me a holler to book your trip! Capt. Dave Protzmann 920-254-3137 www.fishindanet.cm P.S. The photo with all 4 members of the entire crew was taken after a couple fish were cleaned.

Spring Update fishing report coverpicture

April 12, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Lake Report on 12th Apr, 2025

As spring temperatures begin to rise, fishing conditions are starting to shift in a promising direction. Now is a great time to start planning your Lake Michigan charter trip, with the season shaping up to be a productive one. Recent reports from the region indicate excellent activity for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Lake Trout, especially in well-known inland waters connected to the Great Lakes system. These species are responding well to warming waters and longer daylight hours, and anglers targeting them are seeing solid results. Lake Trout, in particular, are expected to stay active in deeper water for the time being but will gradually begin moving toward shallower areas as spring progresses. Northern Pike are known to become more aggressive during this seasonal transition, offering exciting action for those casting with larger lures or live bait. Walleye activity is also picking up, especially during early morning and evening hours. If you're looking to get out on the water soon, now's the time to reserve your spot with a local charter. Conditions are looking ideal for a productive and enjoyable trip targeting some of the best species Lake Michigan fishing has to offer. Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds!
